Assembly Bill 1078 was passed and now heads to the Assembly Committee on Appropriations where it awaits a hearing. Sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB1078 would make it a crime to drive more than 20 miles per month for the sake of recreation, even to visit family and friends, unless you are registered as a “recreational driver vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Gas Stations would have to be re-licensed and store fuel in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to recreational drivers once their 20 mile limit was reached. The bill would require all drivers submit to fingerprinting and photo record. All vehicles would be required to be outfitted with a gas tank monitoring device, which would be monitored in real time by the Department of Justice. Any person failing to comply could face up to 3 years in jail and a fine of no more than $5,000.00.
This is obviously a fake right? No legal system would ever think of stealing your basic rights in such a manner would they?
Yes, they would. Currently, Assembly Bill 962, created and presented by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45) is going through the motions. This bill would limit ammunition sales to 50 rounds per month/per person in California.
How on earth do you equate ammo sales to driving a car for recreation!? That is apples and oranges isn't it?
Not really. The proposed reasoning for ammo restriction from AB962 is to crack down on gang violence. Well I hate to break it to everyone, but automobile accidents cause a lot more deaths annually than bullets ever will in the US.
Bullets kill people - government limits bullets - less death
Cars kill people - government limits driving - less death
See the logic now?
Taking away anyone's basic rights, the "Pursuit of Happiness" if you will, is a direct violation of the Constitution of the United States. AB 962 is a clear cut example of the very theft of our rights. AB 962 is just another ineffective "feel good" law that will have a negligible effect on crime. News flash - criminals don't follow the law. Why in the hell would they start with this one? This bill will only punish and disable the good, law-abiding people of California.
If you feel like speaking up for your rights as a US citizen, please do. It does not matter if you are effected by this bill in particular, because next time, it may be your hobby or interest that is under the gun, pun intended.
